NARAL PRO-CHOICE COLORADO STATEMENT ON TONIGHT’S RESULTS

Denver – NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado Executive Director Karen Middleton issued the following statement in response to tonight’s election results.

“Colorado is a pro-choice state – as tonight’s results clearly demonstrate. Coloradans strongly support candidates who prioritize access to abortion care, access to contraception, equal rights for pregnant women on the job, and family leave.  And with a pro-choice majority in both the Colorado House and Senate, we will be able to put those values into action going forward.

Tonight’s victories would not have been possible without the incredible Path to a Pro-Choice Majority candidates and their tireless efforts to bring a pro-choice majority back to the State Senate and the Colorado House of Representatives. And we also thank our candidates for State Treasurer, Attorney General, and Secretary of State for their hard work and support for our shared values.

We are incredibly fortunate to have elected Jared Polis as the next Governor of Colorado. From the very beginning, Jared has made access to abortion and reproductive healthcare a central tenet of his campaign and has never wavered in his support of a woman’s right to choose. We are proud to have endorsed Governor-elect Polis and look forward to seeing what he, in solidarity with our pro-choice majority at the legislature, will accomplish as the next Governor of Colorado.”
